DARTMOOR CHALLENGE BADGE
The Dartmoor Challenge Badge has been created in collaboration by Dartmoor National Park Authority, the Dartmoor Preservation Association, and the National Trust. Made up of six parts, it invites people to explore the history, ecology, folklore and heritage of Dartmoor and earn their own badge to wear with pride.

Applications Open for DPA Public Access Support Grants
Do you have an idea for a project which will promote inclusive access on Dartmoor? As a result of the victory in the legal battle to retain the right to backpack camp on Dartmoor the DPA is setting up a Public Access Fund to return money to as many grass-roots initiatives as possible. We are now welcoming applications for grants to support projects about access to Dartmoor.
Access is a broad term; we envision access being interpreted on a diverse scale, with projects covering a range of ways in which people can be supported to build a closer relationship with this special landscape. Projects may relate to: physical access, accessing confidence, access to skills or access to culture.

Proud custodians of Dartmoor National Park, we are the named ‘critical friend’ to the Park Authority and actively campaign and invest in projects to protect and enhance the special features of Dartmoor.

Thank you to everyone who joined in with our closing ceremony, Gudula's Gathering, a community pageant and well dressing to reflect on and give thanks for the land and the water it gives us, and to celebrate the dawning of summer.

Two intrepid volunteers, Adam Sparkes and Susan Williams, joined DPA Ecological Consultant Albert Knott for a night time survey on our land at High House Waste. The aim was to record elusive Blue Ground Beetles, Britain’s largest ground beetle, at up to 38mm long.
These distinctive insects are one of the rarest beetles in Britain and were believed to be extinct in the UK until 1994, when a population was confirmed on Dartmoor.
