Today’s Dartmoor walk. The two sides of Shaugh Moor. One side destroyed by China clay excavations. The other saved by campaigners in the 1970s from being covered with China clay waste. Their legacy is this beautiful area of moor, rich in prehistoric remains.

The 140th anniversary edition of our member magazine 'Dartmoor Matters' is now out in the world!
This edition covers the past 140 years on Dartmoor, with insights from long-standing Trustee Kate Ashbrook on our hardest fought battles over the 20th Century. Issue 212 also covers 19th Century literature on Dartmoor, conservation workdays with Plymouth University and the amazing work MED Theatre is doing to evoke a love of local history in young people.

Tom Usher: Amazing day at Groundswell yesterday. Highly recommend it, DPA will be back next year and bringing others! (preferably young people on Dartmoor with big plans).
As the original Defenders of Dartmoor DPA needs to keep understanding issues like regenerative agriculture and its place in managing designated landscapes....
